Release and Burn

I release
What no longer has dominion
over my spirit.

The ache.
The antiquated sorrow.
The rancor
I was never meant
to inherit.

With love,
I lay it down.

With light,
I let it burn.

And let me be candid:

I am not burning
because I am bitter.

I am burning
because I am ready
to breathe better.

There is cogency
in knowing
What cannot come
where your soul
is going.

There is vitality
in clearing the room
for joy,
money,
softness,
laughter,
love,
and every blessing
that knows my name.

So let the old story
rise like smoke.

Let every false attachment
lose its voice.

Let every fallacy
return to the dust
without ceremony.

I bless what taught me.
I forgive what could not hold me.
I release what cannot rise with me.

Soft,
but not susceptible.

Loving,
but not available
for diminishment.

Open,
but no longer obedient
to pain.

I release.

I burn.

I rise.

And what remains
is luminous:

breath,
space,
peace,
pleasure,
abundance,
and me,
standing whole
in the sacred clearing,
ready to receive
What is finally ready
to meet me well.
