Dear Lost Chance,
The wheels were turning.
The fire was burning.
And then, suddenly,
Everything came to a halt.
After so many years
of long conversations,
high and dry deserts,
heightened silences,
and little sparks of interest
that appeared
only to disappear again,
I finally understood
What my heart
had been trying to tell me.
You were here today
and gone tomorrow.
Present enough
to awaken feeling,
absent enough
to leave me questioning
What I was holding.
My faith is golden,
But it is not a prison
of the past.
I cannot keep waiting
inside a possibility
That never became a decision.
I cannot keep making room
for a man
who could not make room
for us.
It hurts me to say this,
but today
I release what I hoped
We would become.
You cannot miss
what you never truly held.
And if I were the prize,
you should have never treated me
as though I was on layaway.
I loved the idea
of what we could have been.
I admired you.
I had sweetness for you.
There was tenderness here,
real tenderness,
the kind that could have grown
If it had been met
with courage,
clarity,
and action.
But love cannot live forever
on signals, silence,
and hesitation.
A woman’s heartIt
is not a waiting room.
A woman’s spirit
is not a shelf
where someone places beauty
until they decide
whether they are ready
to value it.
I have healed
too many times
to confuse longing
with destiny.
I have learned
the difference
between patience
and self-abandonment.
I have learned
The beauty of detachment.
Not loneliness.
Discernment.
And discernmentIt
is a power tool
that sits right beside intuition.
So I am choosing
something more concrete,
more honest,
more consistent,
more aligned
with my values
and my future.
I am choosing peace
over confusion.
Movement
over waiting.
Clarity
over-guessing.
My heart deserved
to be explored,
expressed,
and enchanted.
Instead, it was met
with timidity,
indecision,
and nonchalance.
That is not enough
for the woman I am now.
I release this
without rancor,
But I will not relinquish
my future
to your indecision.
So consider this
My Dear John, letter.
No hard feelings.
Only truth.
I wish you well,
But I will not keep standing
at the door
of something
that refuses to open.
Even the sea
does not stay
in one motion.
It moves.
It glides.
It releases the shore
and makes its way
toward better pastures.
And so will I.
With love, release, and final grace,
Sherley
P.S.
I cared deeply.
That was never the issue.
The issue
was your inability
to choose with courage.
And I can no longer
let your indecision
decide my life—
